Croatia in general and Split are considered to be very safe. There are no areas of town that are marked as the ones you should avoid, even during the night. However, with increase of tourism and the crowds there are some situations where you should be extra careful and some safety tips to keep in mind:
Be aware of your surroundings.
Be cautious in big crowds and while attending public events.
Make sure you have emergency numbers memorized.
Make sure you don’t bring anything of value when going to the beach.
Make sure to check you took all your possessions from your Uber/taxi before leaving.
Always have your address written on a piece of paper - paper doesn’t run out of battery.
