Setting up the hourly rate, relationship, design tasks, estimate, project management, and meeting cadence for your work

First, make a copy of this Coda

Each estimate should have its own copy of this file.

Set up the data

Under

Data⁠

in the sidebar, review and/or change the values in each section for the estimate.

⁠

Hourly Rate⁠

—set the hourly rate for the project, from $150 to $200.

⁠

Relationship Complexity⁠

—set this to 1 for most clients. If a client would be hard to work with, use this slider to reflect the impact of hard working conditions on a project.

Design Task List⁠

—a list of common design tasks with descriptions. If needed, add to it for your estimate.

⁠

Estimated Tasks⁠

—a list of tasks with associated estimates of how many hours the work will take. Customize this for your estimate.

Project Management⁠

—a slider to add a blanket percentage to cover project management costs.

⁠

Meetings⁠

—often forgotten as a part of estimation, create a ballpark of how many meetings will be needed for this project.

Estimated Cost⁠

—just a page to list the estimated cost.
