Plural Health (formerly PlateauMed) (“Plural”, “we”, “us”) operates the Plural patient application (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, and protected when you use the App.
The App is designed to help patients view health information that has been recorded by their healthcare providers, manage appointments, and receive communications related to their care.
The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

Plural provides healthcare software to hospitals and clinics.
Your hospital or clinic is the Data Controller for your personal and health information.
Plural acts as a Data Processor, processing data only on the instructions of your healthcare provider.

2. What information we collect

We collect and process the following categories of information on behalf of your healthcare provider:

a) Personal information

Name
Phone number
Email address
Date of birth
Address
Appointment details

b) Health information (view-only)

Information entered by doctors, nurses or laboratory staff, including:
Symptoms and diagnoses
Vital signs
Laboratory test requests and results
Prescriptions
Important: All health information displayed in the App is entered by licensed healthcare professionals during (or in relation to) your clinical interaction with your healthcare provider. Plural does not provide any clinical information or edit information provided by your clinician.
Patients cannot edit, modify, or add clinical information.

3. How the App uses your information

Your information is used only to:
Display your medical records as recorded by your healthcare provider
Show upcoming and past appointments
Notify you about appointments or care-related updates
Enable secure communication initiated by your healthcare provider
Support healthcare operations and service delivery
The App does not:
Diagnose medical conditions
Recommend treatments
Suggest medication changes
Replace consultation with a healthcare professional

4. Legal basis for processing data

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, your information is processed on the following legal grounds:
Contractual necessity: to provide healthcare software services to your hospital or clinic
Provision of healthcare: to support delivery of care by licensed providers
Vital interests: where processing is necessary to protect health or life
Legal obligations: where required by law

5. Sharing of information

Your data may be shared only:
Within your hospital or clinic, among authorized healthcare professionals
With laboratories, pharmacies or care partners involved in your treatment
With trusted service providers (e.g. cloud hosting, SMS delivery), under strict confidentiality agreements
Where required by law or regulatory authorities
Plural does not sell or use patient data for advertising or marketing.

6. Anonymized and aggregated data

We may use anonymized or aggregated data (which cannot identify you) to:
Improve system performance
Support health system planning
Generate statistical insights

7. Patient communications

Your healthcare provider may contact you via:
SMS
Email
In-app notifications
These communications relate only to:
Appointments
Test results availability
Care-related updates
You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

8. Data security

Plural uses appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:
Secure hosting environments
Access controls
Encryption
Staff confidentiality obligations
All staff and subcontractors are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Your hospital or clinic’s retention policies

You have the right to:

Request correction of inaccurate information (via your healthcare provider)

11. Account and data deletion

Some medical records may need to be retained by your healthcare provider to meet legal or clinical obligations.
