Across Africa today, there is a growing number of self-acclaimed “product leaders” who are, in reality, entry- or mid-level PMs with limited practical experience. Some have never held a full-time product role and rely solely on learnings from online courses or boot camps. While their intention to educate others and grow their online presence is commendable, this trend has led to an increase in underdeveloped or textbook product managers who are heavily influenced by AI-generated content, with little exposure to real, experiential learning.Another challenge within the African product management ecosystem is the heavy reliance on Western frameworks for defining and practicing product management. While these frameworks have played a role in shaping the discipline across the continent, they often fail to capture the unique market dynamics, customer behaviors, and infrastructure constraints that define African markets. Without a localized perspective, this dependence risks producing a generation of PMs who build for frameworks rather than for African users.

About Me
I am a Senior Product Manager at , passionate about identifying customer pain points, building solutions to address them, and unlocking growth opportunities. Previously, I was a Senior Product Manager at and the founding Product Manager at , where I played a pivotal role in defining the product culture and aligning and scaling multiple products from ideation to launch and scale.
Outside of work, I am the founding Project Leader for , which selects 50 Black Product Managers every quarter, from hundreds of applicants. This work has contributed to placing 130+ members into roles, generating more than $21M in wealth for the Black community, and locking in sponsorships to secure over $500K in funding.
