Sources of Energy

Photosynthesis- putting together/a process by which plant & animal cells make their own food

Nearly all living things obtain energy from the sun

Autotroph- makes own food

Heterotrophs- cannot make their own food

2. 2 Stages of Photosynthesis

During photosynthesis plants & some other organisms use energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide & water into oxygen and sugars

Stage 1: Capturing the suns energy

Pigments- absorb light

Chlorophyl- captures light energy & uses it to power stage 2

b. Stage 2: Using energy to make food

Stomata- small openings under a leaf where oxygen & carbon dioxide move , open at night, close at day
