MAPPING THE AIRCRAFT
Before inspecting new aircraft, the Ultraview UAV plays a double purpose as a 3D map capture platform, which is then aided by rendering and optimization under the hood. The net result is a flexible 3D map of the aircraft configuration, which then becomes part of the platform’s permanent library.
PATH PLANNING AND INSPECTION OPTIMIZATION
Using the 3D Map generated in the prior step, the AI then calculates the most efficient, completely safe path for each inspection quadrant - balancing the location of each image captured to maximize coverage while optimizing battery life.
COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Aerospace hangars are dynamic environments, constantly humming with activity. For that reason, it’s critical that any autonomous system running in that environment come with robust object detection and collision avoidance.
DAMAGE CLASSIFICATION
Over time, we believe that the system will be able to take over more of the task burden from human inspectors. One critical phase in that journey will be the switch to CV based identification/classification of all common damage types, which will help take even more time and labor out of the process.
