Who and what do you care about? What causes or issues matter to you the most?
i care deeply about a lot of things. the most important thing to me right now is that humans look to nature as a teacher and find our way home through nourishing our relationship with the earth. i care about creating integrated communities of the future, where people from many cultures and backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses can come together and support each other, to make sure we have our basic needs met and can grow from there. i'm working on this in a town along lake atitlan, where i care about the wellbeing of the local population and want to see them rise out of issues of poverty, malnutrition, abuse, and addiction. i care about people having the knowledge and time to grow their own food. i am passionate about permaculture as a foundational framework for better living. lots more but that's a good start ;)

the earth has empowered me to do this work
Briefly describe your professional background and core creative skills.
i started and ran a digital food media company (spoon university) for 5 years out of college. it was a unique model where we built communities on 300 college campuses worldwide, connecting students with a passion for food and empowering leaders to build teams of writers, editors, photographers, event planners, etc. to share local and nationally relevant info on food. i am now launching groundwork, an educational company dedicated to teaching people life skills, through a permaculture lens, starting with growing your own food. i'm building a retreat center / permaculture farm along lake atitlan and have a home in CO where i will be hosting some permaculture retreats as well. i am naturally a very creative person and am best when in a leadership role, visioning, orchestrating, coordinating, and sharing my passion for the cause with stakeholders.
What helps you to be successful in a collaborative environment or team?
when i'm surrounded by thoughtful, curious, heart-centered people who share my drive towards mission-driven impact, and when these people are humble and open to listening and learning

Of the roles listed above, which are you most excited to contribute and why?
my land could be a good option for some of these initiatives. it's still in development but my vision is to have it be a space for creativity and collaboration, and ultimately a model for new living (very importantly though to integrate the local community into this vision)
