Objective
The main preface of this mission was to conduct 3D scanning mission of a car and a light pole. We flew the Skydio S2+ platform around different objects to collect data and compare the different flight settings within the Skydio. Utilizing the tower scanning, and the basic 3D scanning features, we believe we collected data that will demonstrate the process and results. The scan flight ceilings were at 50ft AGL for the light pole, and 7ft AGL for the car scan. To also ensure a sufficient scan we accounted and set the scan for 1.6ft AGL under the launch point (Ground Level).
Location
Our main base of operations was at the Purdue University Student Farm. This location had some hazards to be aware of like trees on the north side, electrical lines and light poles on the west and south sides, vehicles in the parking lot with some observers centrally located, and sports stadium lights on the west side. The ground was a dry enough for some groups to drive their vehicles on the grass to conduct their flight mission.
