Believer Avionics - Nov. 6th, 2025

Overview

During this lab, we utilized a variety of different software to ensure the proper set up of flight controllers prior to the construction of the Believers. Some problems that we encountered were the flight controller software is open source and the system from Windracers is closed source. This made things exceptionally difficult to navigate and get things changed to ensure proper programming of flight controllers for future flights. Overall, we achieved the desired outcome and are ready to proceed to the next steps in building onto this system.

Lab Procedures

The objective of this lab was to flash the firmware on the flight controllers, and then back again. This was mainly due to the fact that we were dealing with an open-source system and trying to modify a closed source system. So, in following the progression of photos below Fig. 1 - 5, it is clear what the process was to get the entire system online. We started by assembling all the parts and then moved to modifying their behaviors within the firmware. This goes for the airspeed sensor, antennas, GPS, and basic flight characteristics. To conclude we accomplished our goals and definitely have a system that works that would make this lab reproduceable.
