Overall Objective
The main overall premise of this lab was to construct the Believers and start wiring them up according to the wiring diagram we constructed. This entailed gluing parts together and soldering ESC’s to D-Sub connectors to ensure our motors were working. Some problems that I faced was the testing was figuring out how to the power was being transferred from the battery and how all the parts were going to fit inside the wing with the small compartments. We achieved this through ensuring that we had enough wire length and test fitting prior to complete assembly. This lab also helped our group get a good understanding of how easy it is to construct a fixed wing UAS but how hard it is to integrate different platforms into one! I’m excited to continue the process of this build because we got about 3/4 of the way done constructing the fixed wing due to time constraints. Next semester we’ll be focusing more on the electronics side of the aircraft and I’m excited to see where this craft will take us, and this is mainly in terms of learning and problem-solving opportunities!
