Communication Tip Tuesday Week 3

Phishing and telephone scams and how to spot them
**This message is sent to all Oneida Staff. **

Welcome to another Tuesday Tips: Communication series!

Hi Oneida Team!
On this week I’m sending a friendly reminder to keep yourself, family, friends, and co-workers safe from phishing and telephone scams with these simple tips:
Stay Skeptical: Always question unexpected emails, texts, or phone calls asking for personal info, help, or money.
Verify Senders: Check sender details before responding or clicking any links.
Avoid Clicking: Don't click on suspicious links or download attachments from senders before confirming with the sender that it’s legitimate.
Code words: A word that you can use with your friends or family to make sure you can verify it’s really them. Avoid pets names, common family names and easily guessed words. Use something random, unique, and one you’ll remember.
Use Strong Passwords: Create strong, unique passwords for your accounts, don’t duplicate passwords. It’s important all passwords are strong, unique and not replicated to avoid a large compromise of accounts.
Enable Two-Factor Auth: Add extra security with two-factor authentication.
Educate Others: Share awareness about phishing and telephone scams with colleagues and friends.
Report Suspicious Activity: Let IT, management, or authorities know if you spot anything fishy.
Remember, staying vigilant and safe over all forms of communication is a team effort.
By following these simple tips, we're not just protecting ourselves but also looking out for each. Let's keep the communication lines open, stay vigilant, and support one another.
