Baby Angel Gabriel
2/17/21
Your namesake brought news to a maiden
That she would be the mother of God
Young and fearful she bravely said yes
An inspiration for your doting mom and dad
Who said yes to their long wait for you
Who each day say yes
With their tender smiles and loving words
Who say yes
Leaving for work while they are missing you
Your eyes, your smile, the sheer joy of you
Who say yes
Waking up bleary eyed to soothe you
Sheltering you in their sleepy embrace
Their love, their hope lifts you
With every yes carried in their open hands
of quiet sacrifice
A poem for my baby nephew, Angel who is named after the Angel Gabriel from the Bible.
