Goal: Provide step-by-step instructions for using Canva to create custom merch designs.

Context: This SOP enables easy design creation for online merchandise stores.

When to Use: When graphics and visual assets are needed for merchandising products.

Instructions:

Go to

www.canva.com⁠

in a web browser

Select the "Magic Media" tool under the "Elements" section (left menu)

This is Canva's AI art generator

In the text prompt box, enter descriptive phrases of the desired image

Example "vintage campervan with retro stripes"

Experiment with prompting language for best outputs

Generate images and select the preferred result

Click the "Background Remover" tool under "Edit Image" section

This makes the image background fully transparent

Search Canva element library for complementary graphics

Choose matching color schemes and styles

Drag and resize additional elements onto design as needed

Use grid snapping for precise positioning

Make image adjustments under "Effects" if required

Change brightness, contrast, saturation etc.

Add text from library fonts or use custom fonts

Consider relevant keywords, branding etc.

Export final design as a PNG Printful file

This prepares graphics for merch production
