Global Leadership Camp 2025 @ AIU

What will you acquire in 5 days?

This year’s Global Leadership Camp will be held in March 2025 at Akita International University (AIU), Japan, with the theme of “Regional Sustainability x Leadership”.

During the five days of the camp, junior and senior high school students from all over Japan will work together to develop a better understanding of the challenges facing a shrinking society. On the final day, they will have the opportunity to present their ideas in English.
This camp is a place where students can learn about leadership through project planning with their peers from all over the country, and by viewing issues from the “glocal” perspective of “think globally, act locally,” which was born out of the international development assistance and environmental conservation movements.
The camp also includes lectures by AIU faculty members who are experts in the field, opportunities to learn the issues in depth by listening to local entrepreneurs who are actually tackling these issues, and lectures on presentation skills in English and how to think about how to tackle projects.
AIU is a multicultural campus where more than a quarter of the students and faculty are foreign nationals. The five days you are going to spend at the university will broaden your perspective.

Real fieldwork with all five senses
In order to learn more about social issues, you can visit BABAME Base, Regional Revitalization Support Center, to learn about issues on the ground and actions to address them.
Programs where you can learn how to discover issues and solve problems.
You will have the opportunity to receive lectures by professors of the university on the topic and entrepreneurs who are taking action. Their ideas and experiences will surely be incorporated into your own future actions.
Meet the ambassadors of OYW, the world’s largest community of next-gen leaders
One Young World is a community of next-gen leaders that holds its annual summit in various cities, bringing together approximately 2,000 young leaders from over 190 countries to share action on global issues. Ambassadors who attended the Summit as part of the Japanese delegation will also participate in this year’s camp.
Leadership required by the times
The program fosters leadership through dialogue with social entrepreneurs and other leaders who are actually taking action for society, and through working on projects together with peers.
Project mentoring from OYW ambassadors and university students
Mentoring by Japanese representatives of the Global Summit and university students who aspire to be global leaders will help participants learn how to proceed with projects and teamwork.
Meet like-minded people
This five-day group work experience will bring together people of the same generation from all over Japan with similar interests and visions for the future, and will provide you with the opportunity to make new friends that will continue into the future.
English Presentations with Global Impact
Many of the social issues of the future will be common not only within Japan but also around the world. You will learn how to express yourself and share your idea in English in order to create empathy in the world.
Experience university life at a real campus
Learning at University is important for your future. By actually living a simulated life at a university for 5 days, you can imagine your future image at the university, which you cannot see at the open campus.
