Instantly Disabled
Instantly Disabled Ad Accounts
If your ad account gets disabled instantly upon the launch of a new campaign, it means some of the assets
you have uploaded have previously been flagged, or uploaded elsewhere on Facebook.
Since the update in mid-December 2021, Facebook will now flag assets that have previously been used on
another ad account, or restricted before.
The rules are now extremely strict, and previous techniques to make the creatives appear "new" to Facebook
no longer work.
Why does this happen?
Facebook are constantly trying to improve their quality of advertisers. For them, this means removing standard
dropshippers, and advertisers who are re-using content. Facebook wants fresh, new content, and they
understand that good quality brands will not be re-uploading content that has been used before.
Additionally, re-using the same content on multiple ad accounts (even if it is your own) can cause a
Circumvention Flag. This happens because if you spread the same assets on multiple ad accounts, it can
appear that you are trying to dodge the spending limit of an account, or the page feedback system by using
multiple pages on multiple ad accounts.
What can cause an instant ban?
Firstly it's important to note that if your ad account gets banned for this reason, it's extremely unlikely to come
back, even with an appeal. Plus, our Facebook Rep has confirmed that this move applies to all accounts.
The instant ban happens when assets on your ad account can be visually similar to assets on another ad
account. It does not matter if the other ad account is yours, or someone elses. Quite simply, visually similar
creatives must not be reused on the platform.
• Re-using the same clips as someone else, or as you have used on another ad account. Editing the colour,
adding a watermark, adding an overlay, cropping, changing the speed or dimensions will not stop this flag.
• Downloading an AdSpy video, editing it, resetting the metadata, and customising the clips slightly will not
stop this flag.
Changing metadata will not stop this flag.
• Downloading videos from AliExpress/Alibaba that can also be downloaded by other users and added to a
video ad can get you banned if they have been used before.
Re-using image creatives that have been used elsewhere can get you banned.
How do l avoid an instant ban?
Changing your creatives so they are not visually similar in any way to another creative is very important. The
days of uploading videos you have downloaded online are gone, this will not hold up and you will get banned.
You should also not re-use ad copies across multiple ad accounts. Some slight variation to the text is required
also.
However, you can still use YouTube creatives, and take inspiration from other people. You must ensure that the
creatives you produce are significantly different from other videos, especially for the first 10 seconds of
videos.
We do not recommend this, but if you are not making your own, branded content and do still want to use
YouTube clips:
Ensure the order of clips you use is different to others.
Remove all noticable brand names, text etc.
Add an overlay onto the video to display your captions, that hides around 15-25% of the video.
Flip the video, and add a filter to distort all of the pixels slightly.
Do not use the same text-captions as another video.
Ensure the video is not just a downloaded AdSpy/other spy site video with some edits.
The questions to ask:
Does my video look visually similar to the video I am taking inspiration from?
Does it come across as completely unique content?
Am I just re-using clips I have found elsewhere with minimal edits?
Did I just download a spy site video and change dimensions, crop it, reset the metadata?
How high are the chances that this video clip I am using has been already used by someone else?
The best way to avoid any issues is to make all video creatives completely from scratch.
If you see a competitor video you like, pay to get it remade using similar clips but with your own take on it.
We tested it, and got our account banned.
We wanted to check this was the case, and so tested it on multiple ad accounts so that you don't have to.
We had a winning creative and wanted to re-use this on another ad account. We tried two things:
Re-uploading the winning creative as-is and using just a different ad copy.
Completely re-creating the creative. We used the same original clips, but different segments, added an
overlay, distorted the pixels with a filter, flipped the video, cropped it differently, changed all of the captions
on each frame of the video. Essentially changed every frame to be different, but still using the same
original clip from YouTube. We also changed the ad copy.
The results were simple, an instant ban on test one, with the same creative, and fully approved ads that we are
now scaling for test two with the different creative.
We now have a practice of only using a creative once. After it's uploaded once, we need to change the creative
to make sure it doesn't get flagged for a re-upload. This is a great practice that we recommend everyone
does, especially those dropshipping without custom content.
This is Facebook going into 2022. They want everyone to move to custom content (if you were a brand, you
wouldn't be re-using other people's content) and improve the advertiser quality, whilst ensuring no one
circumvents account limitations or feedback score.
