Transhumanism

Definition from google: “Transhumanism is a philosophical and intellectual movement which advocates for the enhancement of the human condition by developing and making widely available sophisticated technologies that can greatly enhance longevity and cognition. It also predicts the inevitability of such technologies in the future.”
Ideal human?
Are we not all already imperfectly perfect as we are?
Baymax..transhuman. They used Baymax in Big Hero Six originally as a way to improve human condition by having a “robot” whose purpose was healthcare.
It can be further defined as “a way of thinking about the future that is based on the premise that the human species in its current form does not represent the end of our development but rather a comparatively early phase.” -
by “enhancement of the human condition” does it mean like the environment we live in and the material conditions of individuals? because wouldn’t that be an argument for socialized healthcare (wich I believe should be a human right)
The reading for 05/09 discussed transhumanism and the author states that it is a generally new movement. Cyberspace and the physical spaces are intertwined an it is important to maintain this connection because technology adds to our quality of life. “ Tools and our very selves are defined by what we do” which exemplifies this unity between technology and people (Bolger and Calloway, p. 41)
