TEMPLATE Affinity Account Setup - FALSE

Authorize the Affinity Pack

Before we proceed, we first need to authorize the Affinity Pack so that Coda can retrieve information from your Affinity account.

Get Affinity API Key

To connect your Affinity account with a third-party system, you need to first generate an API key.
Login to your Affinity account
Click on your profile picture* at the top right of the screen, then select Settings from the dropdown menu * Note that if you haven’t uploaded a profile picture, then your initials will be displayed in a grey rounded rectangle
Scroll to the bottom of the navigation on the left and click on API which is under the “Data” heading.
Click the blue Generate API Key button and copy the generated key. You should save this somewhere for safe keeping.

Connect the Affinity Pack

Heading back to this doc, let’s connect your account to the Affinity Pack.
At the top right of the screen, click Insert
Select Packs then choose Affinity

TEMPLATE People to Discuss Sync States - MODAL Heading - Button / State Settings

Button/Status Settings

When a sync state is marked as an Active State, then a button is rendered in the relevant row so that the user can perform the relevant action associated with the state. The below settings allow the button aesthetics to be customized.
When a row is not an Active State, these settings are used to render a “Status” display.

Display Chip Settings

These settings affect how the sync state’s “Display Chip” is rendered.
TEMPLATE People to Discuss Sync States - MODAL Heading - Sync State Settings

Sync State Settings

A sync state is applied to each row in People to Discuss based on how that row matches the settings below. A description of what each setting means is provided in the column’s description.
TEMPLATE Sync State explaining DateTime cols

Explaining DateTime columns

Each row in includes three DateTime columns. These help determine the appropriate Sync State for the row.
Affinity chip. Timestamp of the last modification to the Search Person chip.
Button press. Timestamp of the last time the user pressed a sync state button (ie the last sync action performed by the user.
Info cols. Formula that returns a timestamp of the most recent edit to one of the Editable columns

How are these used?

As an example, let's say the row's First Name doesn't match the First Name in the Search Person chip. This could occur in two scenarios:
The user edited the first name in the row. Here the appropriate action would be to Push the update to Affinity.
The person's first name was changed in Affinity and a recent pack sync returned this new value. The appropriate action here would be to Fetch the value from the chip into the First Name column.
To determine which scenario applies best to the row, we check whether the DateTime Affinity Chip or DateTime Info cols is more recent. If DateTime Info cols is more recent, it means that the user edited the columns value more recently so we should recommend the update be Push -ed to Affinity.
