We need to apply for ICTP support by 15 February 2026.

One possible topic could be uncertainty quantification. Another could be drone-related mathematics.

The application was submitted to CNRS, and the results will be announced this month. The application was for €400,000. The application involved all African CoRE-Math universities, as well as three French universities.

The application wasn’t granted, and we received no feedback. Bengt Ove has shared suggestions from ChatGPT on how to improve the application.

Alex has published the database on the CoRE-Math website as a downloadable link. Alex will try to create a table for the database.

Among other things, we discussed possible EU applications.

It would be helpful to have a German member to access German funding.

Tübingen could be a good candidate since they are members of The Guild and work with AIMS.

Update from visit to University of L’Aquila.

L’Aquila is very interested in African collaboration, especially double degree arrangements. L’Aquila have made contacts with Mak, UoN, and UR.

The visit to AAU, 28–30 December 2025, was very successful.

Discussion: We should be a bit careful with expanding so CoRE-Math doesn’t become too large too fast. We also have to make a strategic expansion of the cluster, bringing in universities from, e.g., France, Italy, and the UK. We could arrange an event when the fellows arrive and invite people from Sweden. Should we consider associate members?

No progress with discussions on commitments (SU & UKZN).

Celestin and Mervis have promised to fill out the questionnaire. We haven’t managed to get any feedback from Nairobi.
