What does it mean to “separate our selves as believers”
To “be separate” doesn’t mean we should cut ourselves off from the rest of the world. After all, Jesus also tells us to be “salt and light” to the world (Matthew 5:13–16). We can’t be salt and light from a distance. Jesus himself was criticized for being a friend of sinners (Luke 15:1–2). But like Jesus, God wants us to have a transforming influence on the world around us — not the other way around.
Zacchaeus was a corrupt tax collector. Yet the opportunity of a relationship with Jesus inspired him to repent and make restitution for his sins. How did he propose to make restitution? Luke 19:8
What does restitution mean?
Restitution is defined as “a restoration of something to its rightful owner” and “a making good of . . . for some injury”
The hope of every believer is that Christ’s work in us is more powerful than our past or our current struggles and temptations. The picture of salvation the Bible paints is not just a glorious deliverance, but God’s Spirit empowering us to live new lives.
What do you think it means to “hunger and thirst for righteousness”?
If someone is deprived of food and water for an extended period of time, their physical body will weaken and eventually die. There is a spiritual parallel. The word of God is our spiritual food and water. As surely as we will die physically without food and water, we will die spiritually without God’s word.
Describe what happens to the man who hears Jesus’ words and puts them into practice. Luke 6:46–48
He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
What did Jesus call his followers to do? Matthew 28:19-20
Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe what the disciples were commanded.
Paul compares the life of a disciple to the life of a soldier, an athlete and a farmer. He then promises that if Timothy will refl ect on these things, the Lord will give him insight. 5. What do each of these illustrations teach you about discipleship?
Soldier→ being willing to separate your self for God, to suffer for Him, to not be entangled with other affairs. Athlete → Knowing the word of God, knowing that we are in a race. Farmer→ planting seeds of the gospel, being the first to receive
What three things did Jesus say all his disciples must do? Mark 8:34
Deny your self→ set aside our own desires. 2. Take up your cross→ be willing to endure whatever comes at you. Taking up your cross is the ultimate act of surrender — a conscious choice to deny yourself and live for Christ. It means a willingness to follow and obey Christ to whatever end. 3. Follow Him→ believe in Him, go where he leads you knowing/trusting He is your shepherd.
What is the difference between the cross we carry and the cross of christ?
Because of Christ’s victory on the cross, we are freed from sin and made “slaves” of righteousness (Romans 6:17–18). He gives us the power to pick up our cross and follow him.

What does the bible mean when it says the church is the “body of Christ”
The Bible says the church is the “body of Christ” and that each person is like a different part of the body, with something unique to offer. That’s why belonging to a church community is such a vital part of following Jesus. When we “go it alone,” we’re not only hurting ourselves, we’re hurting the body of Christ. It’s like cutting off a finger or pulling out an eye.
What was Paul’s prayer for the disciples in Ephesus?
For the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, that the eyes of their heart be enlightened, that they may know what is hope, glorious inheritance in the saints, know what is the immeasurable greatness of his power to those who believe, for them to be straightened with power through the Spirit in their inner being, for Christ to dwell in their hearts, to know the love of Jesus
What do we mean when we say we are justified through faith in Jesus Christ?
To be “justified” is to be made right with God. Our sin (and the punishment for it) is taken away, and God declares us to be “righteous” — that is, to be in a right relationship with him.

What is biblical hope and how is it connected to faith.

It is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure , that enables us to be in the presence of God. Faith is confidence in what we hope for.

What are three popular views of death mentioned in 1 corinthians 15?
Annihilationism is the view that human beings cease to exist at the moment of physical death. This view denies the eternal existence of the soul and the justice of God. Reincarnation is the view that upon death a person’s soul passes into a new body of either the same or different species as punishment or
reward. This view denies the biblical teaching of eternal judgment. Resurrection is the biblical teaching that the dead shall all rise, be judged, and be given either eternal punishment or eternal rewards.
