Deconstruction
Break the skill up into smaller, more manageable pieces. Identify the most common ways you might fail before you start, with the goal of avoiding those problems for your first 5 learning/practice sessions.
Selection
Prioritize the blocks that will give you a high return on your investment of time and energy. Cut out the ones that won't.
Sequencing
The typical order in which a skill is learned may not be optimal. Consider learning things in reverse order or omitting "best practices." Find the sweet spot where what is common among the best performers intersects with what is infrequently taught and your own personal strengths.
Stakes
Create consequences for not following through with learning what you said you would learn (e.g., you agree to pay X dollars to an anti-charity each time you don't perform critical tasks or reach important milestones).
