This brief template will help you and your team understand what you want from your content and how you want it done. Aligning them to drive the results you’re looking for when you create a piece of content.
Primary keyword target and intent: The main goal of SEO content is to rank on search engines and drive organic traffic. Identify a primary keyword that your content writer will use to optimize the content and other SEO elements.
Content Format & Length/Skimmable: Identify and define the format(s) you want your team to work on. Select the word count range or number that will be factored from your keyword research and competitive analysis.
Brand voice and tone: Link your brand guidelines to ensure each piece of content matches your brand standards.
Topics to cover & related questions to answer: List out all the subtopics that someone searching that query would probably want to know, which will surface the best results online.
Funnel Stage & Target audience: Who are you creating content for? Indicate the target audience and the stage of their query intent will assist your writer to understand their pain points. This in turn will ensure they create content that resonates and drives the desired call to action (CTA).
Call-To-Action (CTA): When creating your content, you not only need to think about how readers will get to it, but what you want them to do after. Include actions they’re trying to drive visitors to take.
Internal & external link opportunities: Make a quick list and add cited sources (internal and external) to help get the content indexed and start ranking quicker.
Competitor Analysis: Include a few examples of competitor articles that already rank for your target keyword, to provide context so your writer knows who they’re up against.
