Problem Statement: Poor capacity utilization of Hair Salons in India. This problem can be broken down into 2 pieces
High concentration of customers during peak time resulting in overcrowding and long waiting times, discouraging customers from visiting during those periods. However the grooming process is time consuming hence customer wants to get this service during the peak time. Under utilization of Hair salon space during the non-peak hours. The demand for hair salon services may naturally fluctuate throughout the day based on factors such as customer preferences, work schedules, and social activities. Incentivizing customers to visit during non-peak hours can solve the problem of under utilization
User Pain Points & Needs Analysis
MVP Use cases:
Since majority of pain points for both customers and shop owners can be solved by building a robust appointment and scheduling system, I’ll prioritize the below mentioned use cases for the MVP. Moreover the scheduling system should also have the integration support with whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram chat so that appointment can be made over chat with salon’s social media account. This will serve two purpose; (a) save customers from downloading anew application & (b) help leverage shop owners their existing network on these pages.
Use Cases for Salon Shop Stylist/Owner:
As a stylist, I should be able to create a profile with my personal and professional information. As a stylist, I should be able to set my availability and working hours. As a stylist, I should be able to manage my existing appointments, including viewing, editing, and canceling appointments. As a stylist, I should be able to block or mark specific time slots as unavailable for appointments (e.g., for breaks or other commitments). As a stylist, I should receive notifications/alerts for new appointment requests or changes made by customers. As a stylist, I should be able to accept or decline appointment requests based on my availability. As a stylist, I should be able to view customer profiles and their appointment history to better understand their preferences and needs. As a stylist, I should be able to update my service offerings and pricing. As a stylist, I should have access to a calendar or schedule overview to efficiently manage my appointments. As a stylist, I should be able to send automated reminders or notifications to customers regarding their upcoming appointments. Use Cases for Customer:
As a customer, I should be able to create a profile with my personal details and contact information. As a customer, I should be able to search for available stylists based on location, services, or ratings. As a customer, I should be able to view the stylists' profiles, including their specialization, experience, and customer reviews. As a customer, I should be able to view the salon's availability and select preferred dates and time slots for an appointment. As a customer, I should be able to request a specific service or treatment during the appointment. As a customer, I should receive confirmation notifications once my appointment request is accepted by the stylist. As a customer, I should be able to reschedule or cancel an existing appointment, considering the salon's cancellation policy. As a customer, I should receive automated reminders or notifications about upcoming appointments. As a customer, I should be able to provide feedback or reviews for the stylist or salon services. As a customer, I should have the option to save preferred stylists or mark them as favorites for future reference.
