In the painting, the author is trying to portray the image of poverty. The author has included the picture of the boy, that looks as if he doesnt have many chloths, implying that the kids family is poor. The image of poverty is also shown with all of the “trash” all over the ground. Typically when there is a community of people, who have money, they wouldnt want their land to be covered in trash. One last way that poverty is shown is the “Shed” behind and left of the boy. The shed/shack looks like it hasnt been takedn care of for quite a while. All of the evidence that the author has layed out, portrays us the image of poverty
