DNS Configuration

After acquiring a domain name, such as www.yoursite.com, it's essential to configure the DNS settings through your chosen domain registrar's dashboard. Domain registrars, including popular options like GoDaddy, IONOS, and Namecheap, generally have common DNS configuration settings, although their exact location within the registrar's dashboard may vary.

GoDaddy Example

Here is a workflow to set-up DNS records in GoDaddy:
Step 1: After logging in to your GoDaddy Account, go to MY PRODUCTS, and in the DOMAINS section, click on DNS

Step 2: Switch to the DNS tab

Step 3: 🚨 Take a screenshot of the all the settings table rows, before doing any changes. Then, delete all the existing A @ records and delete all the CNAME www records. (There might be more than one of those records)

Step 4: Then, we will add new A and WWW records that will make the domain point correctly to the new site we built. Click on Add new record

Step 5: Then, add two new A records as per the screenshot that will be sent to you. A sample of that process is attached below:

Step 6: Then, add a new CNAME www record as per the second section in the screenshot sent to you. A sample of that process is attached below:

Step 2: Scroll down to the My Domains list and click on the Manage button on the domain whose DNS you wish to change

Step 3: Click on the DNS / Nameservers button on the left sidepanel

Step 4: Please make a backup of the records (take a screenshot) before editing them.
Navigate to the Manage DNS records section, then search “www”. You may see one or more type CNAME, www records. Delete all of them.
image.png
Step 5: Then search “@”. You may see one or more type A, @ records. Delete all of them, do not delete AA, AAA, AAAA records.
image.png
Step 6: Now, that the old records are gone, we have to replace them with the ones you will receive from LaunchPass support team. The records will look like this:
image.png
Step 7: Let’s add the two A @ records as per the instructions screenshot sent to you.
image.png
Step 8: Let’s add the CNAME www record as per the instructions screenshot sent to you.

That’s it! You are done. We will let you know if the setup was successful shortly and your website will be live and running in no time.
