Lab 12 - Believer drone assembly

Overview
Now that the parameters have been set, the stockings hung, and the motors tested, it’s time to assemble the fuselage! Over the next two weeks, your team will develop an assembly manual that culminates from your previous labs (Lab 05 in particular), online resources, and your current building experience.
Use your Lab 05 document as a starting point, but plan to expand as you build.

5
Glue the tail fin adapters to the fuselage.

6
Glue one wing adapter to one side the fuselage. Do not glue on both wing adapters! If you do, you won’t be able to install the carbon connecting tubes later!

7
Mark the area where the opening in the nacelle will be, to mark where not to put glue.

8
Glue the wing together.

9
Glue the carbon spar supports to the inside of the fuselage.

10
Glue the screw bases for the Auto Pilot to the fuselage.

11
Glue the long pieces of plywood to the back of the fuselage.

12
Glue the square piece of plywood to the bottom side of the parachute bay hatch.

13
Once the glue on the wings has dried, glue on the screw bases for the nacelle covers.

14
Glue on the wing adapters.

15
Glue both halves of the fuselage together.

16
After the glue has dried, insert the hatches into the fuselage.

17
Glue on the landing cushions.
Believer-118.jpg
18
Glue in the plexiglas battery plate.
Believer-130.jpg
19
Glue the servo mount to the wing.
Believer-122.jpg
20
Put glue onto the end of the carbon connecting rod that will go into the already installed wing adapter. Then, insert the carbon connecting tubes into the fuselage, from the side of the fuselage without the wing adapter on.
Believer-136.jpg
21
Put glue on the remaining exposed end of the carbon connecting tube, and then glue the second wing adapter to the fuselage.
Believer-137.jpg
22
Once the glue is dry, install the locking hooks to each of the wing adapters, and tail fins.
Believer-142.jpg
23
Connect the wings and tail fins to the fuselage.
Believer-138.jpg
24
Glue the control horns to all of the control surfaces.
Believer-146.jpg
25
Install tail servos into tail mounts, making sure that the side of the servo with the gear is towards the front of the fuselage.

29
Use plastic inserts to create a proper hinge on all control surfaces

30
Assemble and install push-pull rods to tail control horns

31
Install wing servos with double sided tape so that the gear side of the servo is forward. Then install the servo covers.

35
Extend servo cables to reach nacelle

36
Create male D-sub connectors for the inside of the wings with the following connections: 30A+, 30A-, esc control, servo control. The wires should be able to reach the nacelle from the wing root connection.

37
Install D-sub connector into the wing root

39
Install nacelle cover

40
Create female D-sub connectors for the inside of the fuselage with the following connections: 30A+, 30A-, esc control, servo control. The wires should be able to reach the nacelle from the wing root connection.

Electronics Sections

Since we do not have the same electronics as the blog here is a list of best practices from the blog.
1
Use clamps and double sided tape to secure wires and electronics
image.png
2
Install GPS in the tail of the aircraft so that its signals have the least interference
image.png
3
Create power bus for servos
image.png
4
Install antenna in the parachute compartment because it is ground facing and has ground clearance
image.png
5
Hold antenna in with a rubber band to prevent damage from landings
