Sessions Zero

Work needed before the first Turn can begin.

The Gentleman’s Agreement

We’re here to have fun together, not to have fun at the expense of the other players. Leave your ego at the door, and try to resolve disagreements peacefully. Consider trying out some sub-par options that you’ve never used because they’re just not quite as competitive.
Discuss with your opponent before the game starts, especially if you’ve not played them before. Let them know what your army is capable of, both as a faction and as a specific Crusade Force.

Narrative Play

We’re aiming to tell a story, with all of us as its collective authors. There are several ways you can help with this:
Giving unique names to your units makes them more memorable, as well as helps your opponent identify dangerous targets.
Know what your Crusade Force’s goals are, and why they want to be here. Are they looking for something specific? Do they have a grudge to settle?
A little story is better than none, and it’s also better than way too much. A few sentences can say a lot, and nobody wants to read your 300 page fanfic just to find out your motivation. Summarize.

Be Punctual

Nobody likes to wait around for others to show up to a fight. When setting up game schedules with other players, be as clear as possible. Specify times and dates.
When you set a date, stick to it if you can. Life happens, and sometimes we need to cancel our plans, but give your opponent as much warning as possible when that happens.
Be mindful of your opponent’s schedule. Some people will be happy to have a 6 hour game, others will prefer something a bit snappier, with less idle chatter. Talk with your opponent before the game about expectations.

Be Civil

Both in game and in the discord, be nice. We’re an 18+ community, so some foul language is to be expected, but that’s no excuse to be mean. No name-calling, bigotry, politics, porn, or gore.

Know the Rules

Be sure to read this Campaign document (yes you can skim the ) well as the Core Rulebook and your Codex, and any relevant FAQs. We’re not looking for system mastery, but we do want a proficiency for core mechanics.
If you’re a new player, let people know. Some people are happy to act as teachers, and some are not. Both perspectives are valid, and both choices shall be respected.
