What documents do I need to submit?

Documents you need to submit in your DNV Application via the UGE website

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS CHECKLIST

Personal Documents

Passport
Valid for 12+ months, At least 2 blank pages, Full copy of all pages
Passport photos
Recent (last 6 months), Passport-size with white background
Spain Arrival Stamp or Declaration of Entry - If you needed a visa to enter Spain, you should scan your Schengen Visa as well including the Entry Stamp of your first Schegen Country and boarding pass
NIE - Scan the NIE document the Policia gave you
Criminal background check
From your country of citizenship
From any country where you've lived 2+ years recently
Must be apostilled
Must be translated to Spanish by certified translator
Valid for 6 months from issue date
US citizens: FBI background check
UK citizens: ACRO Police Certificate
Health insurance certificate
From provider authorized to operate in Spain
Coverage for entire visa period
Must include emergency care and repatriation
Original + copy

Professional Documents

For Employees:
Employment contract (showing remote work arrangement)
Letter from employer stating:
Permission to work from Spain
Your role and responsibilities
Your salary
Confirmation company has operated 1+ years
Company registration certificate (apostilled)
Last 3 months of bank statements showing salary deposits
Last 3 months of payslips
For Freelancers/Self-Employed:
Business registration documents (apostilled)
Client contracts or letters of engagement
Last 3-6 months of invoices
Last 3 months of bank statements
Tax returns (if available) - this is not a requirement if applying from Spain, but required if via Consulate
Portfolio or proof of ongoing work (CV) - Translate it in Spanish. Could be from AI.

Social Security Documents

Choose ONE option:
Option A - Home Country Social Security:
Certificate proving you'll continue paying social security in home country
US: Certificate of Coverage from SSA
UK: CA3822 (employees) or CA3837 (self-employed)
Option B - Spanish Social Security:
Declaration of intent to register with Spanish system

Educational/Experience Proof

University diploma (apostilled and translated), OR
3+ years work experience proof:
Employment contracts
Reference letters from employers
Professional registration certificates
All apostilled and translated to Spanish

Application & Payment Forms

MIT Form
Cover Letter - Motivational letter explaining:
Why you want to move to Spain
Your remote work details
How you'll support yourself
Relate to the requirements that you qualified.
Modelo 790 Form - Codigo 038 - The application payment you need pay in a Spanish Bank. I paid mine on Banko Santander. Prepare to pay in cash.

Family Members (if applicable)

Marriage certificate (apostilled + sworn translated)
Birth certificates for children (apostilled + sworn translated)
Proof of financial dependency (for adult children)
De facto couple registration (if not legally married)

Requirements Gathering

Here’s how I organised my requirements in folders. I created a folder named “Spain DNV Documents” and created subfolders with the numbered requirements. Feel free to follow my structure.

Trust there’s a chance the form will time-out, cause issues and you will need to start over or reupload again.
