About this doc

👋 Hi, my name is Mick. I’m a Product Manager at Flatiron School.

At Flatiron School, building new features is a cross-department effort. On a daily basis, I’m coordinating with a lot of different departments: Engineering, Design, Analytics, Marketing, Legal, etc.

That’s why we built this tool. It’s simple and effective; it is a list of tasks and it reminds the owner when it’s (almost) overdue. Every department has their own workflow, and it’s notoriously difficult to have everyone adopt new software. But, this tool is super simple to interact with, and it results in near-instant adoption!

A Coda doc to remind your team about their overdue tasks

Getting started with this template is simple:

  • Just add your current tasks and projects to Projects.
  • Use the Gmail Pack to send out a weekly reminder to your team members.

Tip: I recommend to start simple by just adding your projects in the doc manually at first. But, over time you can build this Coda doc out to be automated, by using the Jira Pack for instance.

Packs
The Gmail Pack gives you, the product manager, the ability to send e-mails to your team with the tasks that are overdue.
Automations
By adding in an Automation, the product manager can automatically send the email (via the Gmail pack) to his or her team every Friday at 9AM.
People
The "Assigned to" column is a People column so you know who is responsible for a task. This is also the person that will receive automated emails from the doc.
Sections
The "Email template" section contains the actual email that would get sent to the team. Customize this section as much as you want!
Coda is a new doc. It's kind of like Google docs meets Excel, except it can do magic tricks.
