Climate Change in Cities
Cities are warmer than surrounding rural areas—urban heat island effect—is directly related to precipitation too. urban development affects amount of rainfall in the area.
Researchers at the University of Texas looked at the precipitation anomalies in 1,056 cities from across the globe between 2001 to 2020. they found that over 60% of these cities recieved more precipitation than rural areas. For example, Houston recieved 5 inches more rain than its surrounding rural areas. other large cities include Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, and Miami.
high precipitation + impervious surfaces of cities — flash flooding
Fall is falling 🍂
From September to October, we anticipate the temperatures to cool down a bit. However, the wait time this time around would be longer than usual. Fall is one of the fastest warming seasons of the year, almost becoming an extension of summer. So, the above-average temperatures are expected to continue through November. Despite some of the cooler flashes, warmth might appear to stick around this year.
