Webflow Community

I started a discussion about the current webflow affiliate program for creators here. Might be worth referencing if we want to cover the affiliate program.

Questions
How is the community team changing –– is it taking a new direction? From the outside looking in👇
The latest livestream on YT was 3 months ago
The last TT was in November –– scaling back because of the potential ban?
You’re doing a lot more collab posts using creators' media –– love this, but would recommend collabing directly with the original creator instead of inspo accounts (like )
The addition of Keegan
Are there any new initiatives coming up like we’ve seen in the past?
Like Webflow TV, Global Leaders, Essentials, Partner Program, etc.
Do we have a new affiliate program coming?
Similar to features –– tracking right when a user clones/buys a template, rewarded regardless of whether a link is clicked. How the tracking is engineered is more important than the commission percentage.

Little notes on what you’re currently doing

01 Selection quality matters: Many resources shared are either low quality or hold little value for users. You need someone with an eye for design/dev selecting these resources. Examples mentioned below 👇
Related examples:
Has little value to users. It might look cool, but what kind of projects would have a use for this kind of cloneable?
Low quality in both design & dev. Based on how this template was developed, any relatively new webflow user would have a massive struggle using this template. Plus, from a subjective opinion as a designer, this is not really that great.
A few examples of high-quality resources for both design & dev are mentioned below (07)
02 To help selection –– Use creators to validate quality resources: Many webflow creators active on socials share their work and get a great response, but webflow rarely repurposes the media from these posts. Repurposing the media from creators' posts that get a good response is an easy way for non-designers/devs on the team to select quality resources. Examples mentioned below 👇
More of this: This cloneable shared by Osmos got a great response
You then shared the same cloneable and also got a great response
03 Mention cloneables are cloneable in the copy: In most posts of cloneables across all socials, the copy never mentions that the resource is a cloneable. Examples mentioned below 👇
Examples:
No mention that this is a cloneable in the copy
No mention that this is a cloneable in the copy
No mention that this is a cloneable in the copy
Most other resources never mention in the copy that you can clone them.
05 Make an effort also to include cloneable creators in new initiatives: Webflow community initiatives in the past mostly focused on creators using video-related content, irl events, livestreams, etc., and very few (if any) cloneable creators get visibility in these initiatives (Webflow TV, Global Leaders, Essentials, etc.)

Ideas you currently aren’t doing

06 Creator Spotlight: Showcase creators with a large catalog of high-quality resources or showcase helpful products –– with an emphasis on highlighting their creator. A creator spotlight would be a recurring segment –– This would also give creators something to work toward.
Format:
For web: Listicles featuring their top resources
For all socials: Low production value 1v1 virtual interviews (only if the creator is charismatic)
For X/Twitter: Thread of a few of their resources –– Screenshots/recordings
For IG: Carousel of a few of their resources –– Screenshots/recordings
For TT & IG: Walk through one of the resources
People/Creators Examples: Timothy Ricks, Fouroom, Osmo, Tom Bekkers, Duncan Hamra, John D Saunders, Jonas Arleth, etc.
Resources/Products Examples: Finsweet attributes, Supersparks, Shopyflow, liquify, whalesync, flowbase, slater, etc. Tons of resources/products don’t get enough visibility on social.
07 Highlighting resources regardless of publish date: Most resources webflow has shared are recently made. There are a plethora of (still) very high-quality templates, cloneables, and third-party webflow resources made over the past few years. Added some examples below 👇
Few high-quality templates I’m referring to (that are old but still great):
– published Nov 2020
– published Dec 2019
– published Jan 2020
There are many more from other creators
Few high-quality cloneables I’m referring to (that are old but still helpful):
There are many other cloneables by other creators that are 1 - 4 years old but are still very helpful today.
Few high-quality third-party webflow resources (helpful and deserve more visibility):
Finsweet attributes –– many attribute-based solutions to highlight
Flowbase –– Templates, components, chrome extension, power-ups
Slater –– New’ish but very helpful
Memberstack & Outseta
Supersparks
whalesync
And many more that help webflowers take their projects to the next level.
08 Test different layouts/formats: Instead of using the original media from creators or a screen recording scrolling through full pages –– test out using showreel templates or try highlighting single components from a template (like a cool mega menu, hover IX, etc.)
09 Rebuilding cloneable resources into new concepts –– shortform video: Highlights the creator, shows users how the resource can be applied to a new concept and encourages using cloneables to create more complex things on their projects.
Test different formats:
Full mini tutorial
Short clip showing the cloneable and then showing how the cloneable was used
Some simple examples:
Using a Timothy Ricks swiperJS cloneable to create a draggable testimonial slider
Creating a portfolio page with a hover interaction from Timothy Ricks
Creating a filterable collection using finsweet attributes
There are many more complex options and creators/products

If there’s an opportunity to brand/spin-off part of the community grants program as a Creative Residency Program – similar to Adobe’s creative residency program 👇
Creator Residency Program: Similar to the Adobe Creative Residency, webflow could fund a creator for a 4/8/12 month period. During that period, the creator would work full time building any webflow resource they wanted –– like an app, tutorials, cloneables, etc.
