Product Work Types

Starting new product
Innovate a new product for initial product-market fit (PMF).
Feature development
Add incremental value to the product or extend the value prop to marginal users with new features or enhancements. It does this in two different ways - by enhancing existing product features or developing new features.
Growth
Create and capture value by accelerating adoption and usage by the existing market. Improve acquisition, improve retention, improve monetisation.
Product-Market Fit Expansion
Increase the ceiling on PMF in a non-incremental way by expanding into an adjacent market, adjacent product, or both. We can do this in two ways. One, we can adapt products to new complementary markets, or two, we can add new complementary products.
Scaling
Eliminate bottlenecks to ensure the team can move forward and take on new levels of feature, growth, and product-market fit expansion work. Tech scaling, process scaling, user scaling.

Action Types
Over-perform - Performance in your current role exceeds expectations. PMs typically over-perform in no more than three competencies
On track - Performance meets expectations for your current role and is in range for tenure. High performing PMs will be "on track" for most competencies.
Needs Focus - Performance falls below expectations for your current role and is important to address in the next cycle to prevent the competency from holding the PM back from success.
Not a focus - Not applicable, something that you don’t want to asses
Area of Dev - Area that you want to adress and develop in Development plan
