Topics Covered in Tate Allen's Talk
New Ticketing System
Tate Allen introduced a new ticketing system that is conversational and allows for all communication about an issue to be contained within one thread for easy tracking and visibility. Users can start a ticket using four different keywords, and the system has two types of tickets - facilities and VPN. The response time on these tickets is under the same time frame as when users slack them. The new system also has a dashboard for tracking open tickets.
New Login Method
Tate Allen talked about a universal login method, which means one password and one username for everything that the user needs to sign in for at InnerTrend. The new process comes with a multi-factor authentication (MFA) that is better than a password with multiple exclamation points. The new login method requires users to know their Mac password and email password to sync. The computer will be the email password, and the password will be the same across all platforms.
PT Physical Library
Tate Allen and Sam Ellis discussed the newly opened physical library at PT, where users can check out books for five weeks. The library has a website that allows users to check out the books they want, and the process to log in and check out a book are available via Slack. The library has 540 different books, and users can keep the book for three weeks, with an option to extend for another two weeks. When the time to return comes up, users will receive an email. The librarians will fill out a post-it note with the user's name on it, put that post-it note on the book, and send a Slack message to let the user know that it's ready.
Assist App
Tate Allen demonstrated the Assist app, which allows users to start a ticket using four different keywords and provides a dashboard for tracking open tickets.
