Questions for Panelists

Sample questions that can be used on a general panel:
The film shows how the public's inability to witness the harms taking place inside prisons allowed them to fester in the dark–, unaccountable and unchecked. How can we support efforts in our state to ensure there is proper oversight of the conditions of prisons and jails?
Why was it so important to get to hear directly from Melvin, Raoul and Kinetik in the film? How can we support more incarcerated whistleblowers to speak up while ensuring their safety and protection is prioritized?
Can true public safety come from systems that normalize violence, neglect, and degradation? Please share what you feel is needed for a correctional system that actually intends to help incarcerated individuals who will one day return to our communities.
What is a response we can give to people who say “They broke the law — prison is supposed to be harsh” when hearing about the harsh conditions inside prisons?
Reflect on the stewardship of taxpayer dollars and the state’s responsibility for human lives in their custody. What should citizens of our state know about how their tax dollars are being spent when it comes to incarceration?
