Not a moment because I’m not chronically online, but Club Peguin (as a momentum) was the best - great memories from there, like igloo parties, puffles and the iceberg breaking in the last minute possible while CP was still on air. I miss that place like a killer whale misses her dead son, I would do insane shit to play in the original site again.

Yes. Lots actually. The 1st one that comes into my mind is from a few months ago when I commented on a video how I really, really wanted to live in Shanghai. That’s true. I said in the comment that I could live there during a decade and I would still not get enough of it, and that’s also true. For context I’m from Curitiba, an extremely heterosexual (degradatory) city with 2 million habitants in Brazil. And I’m incredibly eager to see other places, but for some reason Shanghai seems the perfect place to me. Anyway this comment got 300 likes in the first month, but the funny thing is that every time I doubt myself, or my ability to move abroad, someone likes this comment. I made months ago yet people still like it, right on time when I’m feeling lost. Other moments include: 2- a comment in a kpop video making fun of a song, where the lyrics says one thing but you understand another. One person said that that was the best comment ever (they even added a thank you) and another person said that I completely made their day with that simple comment. The last moment would be from when I had a really interesting conversation about stoicism with a French girl.

You see I am an incredible normal girl - early twenties, in STEM, misandrist, wants to live abroad for a while, hates AI, loves tennis, kpop and naturally, of course, loves F1 in the same intensity. I enjoy yaoi (I don’t like that hockey series btw), probiotic drinks, yoga and long walks with my friends. See, I’m basic, but i struggle to find people like me even online. I wish it was easier to find people with the same tastes as me online, like a hinge or tinder but for friends, just friends. Online, probably. People like this in my mentally straight city with 2 million people don’t exist. Persona verification, naturally (I mean imagine if I’m talking with this girl about how much I love Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and he turns out to be an aging male? As a woman, no thanks). I know there are at least 5 girls taste wise exactly like me - who loves NCT, McLaren and Carlos Alcaraz. I just wish it was easier for me to find them.

Collective audio projects

There was a time in my life in which my loneliness was crippling. The hug website was incredible, in that the visual cues of hugging actually helped release serotonin. Or somehow relieved pain. Of all the wonderful websites that exist in the world, that one was simply compelling. A recourse in the darkest of times. I have never visited that site again. But it remains one of my favorite.

I spoke with a woman singing on the metro. We stopped and talked for two hours. She had a powerful voice. An evident history of stage performance in her control and projection and timbre. But she looked tired, sick. She had dealt with a lot of loss and hardship in her life. She was only in her forties but she looked much older. We ended up singing together. The last song was "la negra noche." She encouraged me to keep singing.

On the internet... I met a lifelong penpal. I think it was a meaningful moment that turned into a meaningful friendship. We have been friends for 20 years

Just that the bench on your site made the whole difference for me. I feel very strongly about benches. They are public infrastructure, community scaffolds. But also the image of a bench, of many benches of all shapes and sizes, is the first birthday gift I gave to my partner. Nicely done on that bench

There's a game I can't remember the name of that I played with my sister all the time in probably the 2007-2010 range. It was less of a game, and more of a science-y website where you had a slightly-better-quality-than-8-bit box in the center and a bunch of different materials on the sides that you could choose to fill the box with. I remember there was like gravel and dirt and also ants I'm pretty sure. Anyways, I think that's my favorite place on the internet but I can't remember how to get to it.

Yesterday at a show a guy was weaving through the crowd, trying to get out, and walked right in front of me and another guy and in the process of pushing through the crowd sent a few drinks that were on the floor flying (with his foot). Me and the guy next to me both bent down and righted the drinks and placed them back next to the pole they were up against and shared a disappointed head shake and a look of like, "man, that guy".

Actually I was looking for a site where people have same point of view but from different fronts and seeing people's similarities and differences at the same time makes more interesting .

I had an online friend from chaina but there I was the only one who texted first and asked if he is good or not, when I stopped texting first then we stopped talking too.

I wish people people with different interest could respect each-other's opinion not by judging but by understanding each other's perspectives. I wish there were some specific real group where people could ask and interact each-other with who has experience and who is trying to know about that topic, for example- there is a real community of GKS scholarship where the only people connect who got that scholarship or the only real people who wanna get that scholarship, like aiming for it.

hmmmm i am interested to see how people use this project. it sounds fun and exciting, and novel. i wonder what the best way is to retain users on the site; me personally, i get excited about this kind of thing but struggle to form the habit. on the other hand if you start introducing mechanics that keep people engaged its a slippery slope toward where a lot of the rest of the internet has ended up (i.e. aggressive engagement mechanics that keep people addicted and never fulfilled).

instagram is my home, only because i can talk to my friends there. but it has lots of evil traps like reels that sap my time and attention and wear my brain thin. i like pinterest too, it is fun to curate visuals there.

I met long-term online friends through constant blogger comment threads and 3rd party live chats. And then everything changed when we left for Google Hangouts.

I love blogs that have a "quiet" atmosphere. Usually they are "unrefined". Its nice to see ideas develop over time.

I think that I'd like to try posting wholesome/silly sticky notes or art? Maybe some soothing music. I know what it's like to feel hopeless and down and if I can shine a light on at least one person, I'd be content. Heck, I might even post my silly Shrek fan fiction for the giggles. I wish that we as a society could stop being so quick to judgement and anger and learn how to let loose, have fun, and connect! I’m interested in seeing how we can use this space to break that cycle.

There's this site I used to go on as a kid called Gaia Online. I really loved that game. I don't really have a favorite place on the internet anymore. Maybe this could become my favorite place.

Actually I met this guy at a concert last year. He was a stranger but he kept glancing at me throughout the night. I'd catch him looking at me and make silly faces at him and he'd do it back. It made my heart flutter and I knew that there was something special between us. We ended up taking a group photo together and instead of looking at the camera, he looked directly into my eyes and searched them. I wish we exchanged contact information. There was another time at a restaurant where a waitress came up to me, hugged me, and told me that I have a good heart and to never let people take advantage of it. I haven't had any meaningful moments on the internet yet, I want to, but I find that many people on the internet can be very hostile and judgemental for no reason other than being hateful.

I have no friends. I really want to connect with kind hearted and genuine people but it's hard and I'm shy. I'm a homebody but I've been isolated for so long that it's getting pretty difficult for me to talk and express myself like how I did in the past. I really want to get out of my comfort zone and meet people but I'm also a bit afraid. The trauma runs deep.

I’m curious in seeing how one may be able to view the internet as an inhabited, living system; as well as curious to see the community building aspect of the whole project.

Definitely interacting with other creators over commonality. Interacting with new people over cool things and gaining out reach (as a creator) to many people who are interested in the same things you are. I love seeing art from around the world that tap into one singular being.

Social Media (primarily Instagram or Tiktok) unless they get too “scrolly” for my own liking. I enjoy long-form content laid out on youtube, and have always loved it! Music also is a space online I love connecting through, I use spotify.

As a lead singer in a band, I’ve shared many meaningful moments irl that have spanned into even more meaningful moments online. People taking the time out of their days to post, repost, and even interact with our stuff is amazing.

Safe and creative interactions with strangers is what brought me to this project; very excited, very curious!

*nostalgic sigh* Vine. Creative funny videos made me fall in love with strangers (not literally) but with their different types of imagination and humour.

BoredPanda was my fave good news outlet before it got COVERED in AI -insert disgusted face here-. Also Instagram, especially when you're part of small communities and interactions between artists and fans are common.

There was once a public telephone booth which later became viral, where you could listen to someone's motivative emotional speech, for strangers! You would queue up, go in when it was your turn, and either listen to someone else's recording. Sometimes it was 7 year olds telling you your smile is beautiful. Or it was elderly people telling younguns to never give up. It was beautiful. It was poignant. It showed how magical people can be.

When I was around 11 or 12 in 1997 or so I found a public Star Wars chat room and connected so deeply with strangers from around the work and gained intimate perspective on humanity, how to socialize and geopolitical situations that persist today that shaped my desire to understand the mechanisms of authoritarianism, fascism and how to decolonize the planet.

That’s tough, maybe something silly like if you want to connect you send a message through a form and that message then gets printed and snail mailed in physical form. Creating a sort of loop or real world feel to an internet messaging system

Whenever I see accounts that post about good things happening in the world that are not talked about in mainstream media. Being constantly inundated with negativity is part of a grande strategy to keep us bogged down but I try to climb out of the space as much as possible and I love pages like that that share good news or even just share snippets of life being lived.

I love people who post about their favorite coffee shops, local restaurants, exploring cities and towns, honestly anything that offers a new perspective or promotes a new curiosity is where I love to go on the internet.

I’ve had glimpses of meaningful moments but none that have stood out in my life. I would love to have more, I think brief encounters are some of the best moments of your life.

Just being able to chat in a space that feels safe where we could connect over something simple and develop deeper friendships over time.

Would this system exist in a way comfortable for people who are introverts? I am introverted, but I am eager to meet people and find my people but I don’t want to push myself so far past my comfort zone as I don’t think that would be healthy.

I’m drawn to the idea of the internet as both a refuge and a mirror, so I’d love to explore that tension. From others, I’m interested in perspectives that feel real and unfiltered especially how people use the internet to survive, escape, or reinvent themselves.

My favorite moments are the ones that felt strangely intimate like finding a video, a song, or a post at the exact moment I needed it, even if it was made by someone on the other side of the world. Those moments where the internet stops feeling like noise and starts feeling like it understands you. It’s almost like being seen without being known.

I’m drawn to spaces where people express themselves freely whether that’s fan communities, comment sections that turn into conversations, or random corners of platforms where people share their lives honestly. I also love spaces built around music and storytelling, where identity and emotion can exist without judgment. The lgbtq community, the cinephile community the book lovers the any storytelling media lovers

I wish there was a way to connect based on feeling, not just shared platforms. Like being able to find people who experienced the same content the way you did—not just that they saw it, but that it meant something to them. Almost like finding emotional echoes of yourself across the internet.

Memories of the internet from the 90s and early 00s , when it was still playful and friendly and sincere and brought analog artistic sensibilities online

... A lot of the artistic and "tangible" web design that was more sensory and experiential. It felt like fiddling with a pop-up book back then, or a sensory book with textures to toucha dnwindpws to open and discover things inside, and mechanisms to push and pull.

I'm just interested in bringing life and fun into the internet again like back in the 2000s/2010s when I was kid and loved exploring it with it's bright colours and fun sites.

Nostalgic designated spaces for age groups. Club penguin, moshi monsters, movie star planet. They were made to be fun and with young teens in mind. Though I'm in my early 20s now nostalgia hits hard.

At this point I watch YouTube sometimes, but mostly just use apps like WhatsApp to keep in touch with friends and family internationally. Nothing really interests me on there. Not even doomscrolling often.

I've had so many meaningful experiences and moments with strangers off the Internet. One of my long term best friends was a random add on Snapchat when we were both 13 and 10 years later she's my other half.

I moved countries and really struggled making friends so social media apps such as reddit were amazing for me and I met incredible people.

As a girl often get sent unsolicited pics so just having a way to control that with like a button that doesn't allow the other party to send you anything without your permission would be nice.

I am not sure what is this project about sı that's why I was curious to see it first.

Rating sites. Letterboxd, RYM, Goodreads etc. I love how people give their time to consume the art they like and write long reviews geniunely.

Yes it happened a lot. I had facebook friends for years growing up and now many of them are my real friends once we all collectively started college in big cities. The ones who are in same cities meet and hang out. We all know each other somehow, but it's not a named community nor it's a cult. it's just random young and alternative people adding each other and the mutuals. we all basically connected to people with good taste that simultaneously use Letterboxdx, RYM, Goodreads and share the things they like.

I believe internet is for real connection beyond distance and time. So if there's more real intimacy/relationship/connection between people that are from different places far apart from each other get established through this project would make me very excited.

im not entirely sure what this project will entail for me but it sounds fun and i wanna support it :D

Im by no means good but i love editing videos of cars in video games and sometime shooter games like Counter Strike and one of my favorite things is just how influential the whole online world of AMV’s Trickshot Comp’s Counter strike edits and my own community surrounding cars have shaped my personal interests and also my taste in music. if it wasn't for hearing skrillex in an old call of duty edit when I was young i wouldn't have found my love for electronic music that set me on the path to where i am now with my love for a genre called “Atmospheric jungle” i understand this project seems to be about the physical inputs we use on the internet but i like the idea of it also connecting people the way many other things on the internet have. I hope the best for this project and I’m really happy that your bringing community into it

Not sure really. Just more of a connection and no- not the "make your profile look good" on social media type of thing, but more of a "glad i stumbled across you" type of thing. Im not necessarily looking for long term meaningful relationships... just something to make the place alive. A bit like going to a games club in real life- you dont necessarily make good friends with everyone you play with, but you had a good enough social interaction to say you had a good time.

Not sure, really. I dont go on the Internet often unless I need it. Hence it would be nice to have a place on the Internet I can go on to unwind.

It has. My job requires talking to people all over the world. So I hear a few good stories here and there.

Just have fun. I know its vague, but im just looking to socialise with people.. Someone authentic and open minded. I wouldn't describe myself as a nice person considering how I put an effort to be myself, meaning I am blunt, and speak my mind. However much I vocalise my thoughts, though, I'm still very open minded. So I dont care how different i am to other people, even if we dont agree on anything, as long as they're open to having chats and being real... idrc what we do. Maybe live calls while doing activities would be good? Or maybe activities that kind of prompts us to know more about the people we're playing with? Not in an obvious way, it has to be subtle so it kinda urges the users to *want* to know more about each other, rather than ask just to complete the task... does that make sense? Not sure how you can do that, but it'll be really cool if executed properly.

just old forums like Reddit but without the incels, some form of safe anonimity, minimalist atemporal design. giving people something to talk about.

when there is this one thing that everyone knows about and not only references, but builds upon it. also the comment section of any piece of media, it's best in a place like youtube where my irl friends won't see what im saying. not because i dont want them to see, it's just the iverall feeling of hyper vigilance that doesn't let me do things without thinking of how x or y maigh taint my online reputation first, which impacts my irl impression on people.

these random websites with very specific uses. passion projects showing as platforms built by a crew of 1-3 around a specific thing. anything that sort of automates a process that everyone's been looking for but one person decided to make come to life (think chosic to discover music)

mostly in person. but online i think it has happened a couple of times where someone comments something about their lives that seems to be difficult to deal with and just kinda showing up for that person, giving them advice, offering reassurance. i dont know you and i dont owe you my care, but i still do and i want to share it. i love that feeling, and not only when it's coming from me.

Firstly, I really don't know anything about tech because I am from law background but I am excited to learn something new from you all, to explore new things rather than law.

My favourite moment from internet is when I get to know about those underrated website where people can learn verious things.

My favourite places on the internet are those places where I am quietly learning new stuff and if I got stuck somewhere then I know how to ask help to other stranger because they help.

No, it's doesn't happen on internet. I still remember that moment when I was in my high school during Covid 19 and we had needed to take a vaccine. My father had took me to nearest base camp where they were providing vaccine for everyone and I met this girl over there, she was damn nervous, so do I because both of us were scared of injection, so we both talk on random stuff to distract our mind and hold our hand to calm down.

By communicating with them. Communication can help to know what is similar between two people and even if i don't find anything similar. I will talk about the sites we met and get to know the reason why they are in the sites just like me.

As I said earlier, tech is not my cup of tea but I really want to know this tea and learn something new.

I connected with a older man one league of legends once, he didn't know I wasnt physical like him but he shared his life advice nonetheless, I hold that close to me now cause it felt like an invitation to a world I wasnt usually physically allowed into

I love small meaningful messages, things that feel like caveman drawings on the walls for the future generations to look back on and understand.Mmmm not always, I have a understanding that not every experience will benefit me and I keep that close when engaging with others that might seem "safe" but have odd intentions when it comes to women or other minorities
