Story of the Lion & Antelope:
When I say its a story and it has a catchy title, I thought it might just grab your attention to give this post a read more than any other one in the past.
Before I jump in to the story, all of us need a dose of inspiration or look for “that thing” which motivates us daily. Without “that thing” we cannot perform at our highest best.
For some people its money, for others it is learning something new, for many others it could be responsibility and the list goes on.
How many of us are motivated because of gratitude? Being grateful for what we are today and how we got here is really important. That’s what makes us a good human being. All our accomplishments in life today are the result of our hard work no doubts. But we cannot forget that someone who helped us (or) something that happened which pushed us forward in life.
The movie “Server Sundaram” depicts how Nagesh, the protagonist starts as poor & peckish, lands a job as a waiter by chance & goes on to become a successful actor. Yet, he hangs a well pressed waiter’s uniform in the living room of his bungalow [now he is super rich] only to remember how he got to what he is today. Its a humble act & also sign of being grateful to that job which helped him make a living & eat a good meal every day in the beginning.
As the title of this post goes “The story of lion and the antelope” is not something new. We have all seen the lion go for its kill on Discovery or on NG. Will the lion win or would the antelope get away? It’s fascinating to watch this. And then finally the kill.
Behind this is an interesting insight first shared by Newt Gingrich, former speaker in the US House of Representatives. The analogy was published in Tim Ferris’s book “Tools of Titans” and also in a recent life lessons book by Prakash Iyer called “How come No One told me that?”.
For ease of reading, I want to stop here and leave it to your imagination about what we can learn from the lion killing an antelope for its meal.
Will tell you next week...
