Free Shopify Schema Checker - How to Audit Your Store in 60 Seconds

A controlled experiment by tested three identical single-page sites. Same content, same keywords, same everything - except schema implementation.
The results:
Well-implemented schema: Appeared in AI Overview, ranked Position 3
Poorly implemented schema: Ranked for 10 keywords, peaked at Position 8, zero AI Overview appearances
No schema: Never indexed despite being crawled
The only variable was structured data quality. The only page appearing in AI Overview was the one with proper schema.
This is the current reality for Shopify stores. Schema quality directly affects whether AI systems can recommend your products.

What "Broken Schema" Actually Means

Schema can fail in several ways, and Google's Rich Results Test only catches some of them.
What _Broken Schema_ Actually Means.png
Duplicate schemas - Multiple apps adding Product schema to the same page. Your theme adds one, your SEO app adds another, your reviews app adds a third. Google sees conflicting information.
Incomplete schemas - Product schema that has name and price but missing availability, SKU, brand, or reviews. Technically valid, practically useless for AI systems that need complete information.
Incorrect relationships - BreadcrumbList schema that doesn't match your actual collection hierarchy. Organization schema without proper social profile links. FAQPage schema with questions that don't appear on the visible page.
Missing schema types - Most Shopify stores have some Product schema. Very few have Organization, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, and LocalBusiness properly implemented together.

How to Run a Free Schema Audit

Option 1: Google Rich Results Test
Go to and enter any product URL from your store. This shows what schema Google detects and flags validation errors.
Limitation: This only tests one page at a time and doesn't measure e-commerce-specific completeness.
Option 2: Risify’s AI Discovery Score

runs a 60-second scan checking 51 factors across five dimensions. The AI-SHOP dimension specifically measures Product schema completeness. AI-CONTENT checks FAQPage and other content schemas.
The scan shows:
Which schema types are present vs missing
Completeness percentage for each type
Specific fields that need attention
How your store compares to benchmarks

Common Issues the Scan Finds

After running thousands of Shopify stores through schema audits, the same problems appear repeatedly:
Incomplete Product schema (missing GTIN, brand, availability, ratings)
78 %
Breadcrumb issues (missing or mismatched hierarchy)
65 %
Zero FAQ schema (even on pages with FAQ content)
89 %
No Organization schema (brand unverifiable)
72 %

What the Scores Mean

The AI Discovery Score runs 0-100 across five weighted dimensions:
AI-ACCESS (10%) - Can AI crawlers reach your content?
AI-ENTITY (15%) - Does AI recognize your brand?
AI-CONTENT (20%) - Is your content structured for citation?
AI-SHOP (35%) - Can AI recommend your products?
AI-TRUST (20%) - Should AI trust your store?
AI-SHOP carries the heaviest weight because product recommendations are the core value for e-commerce. If your Product schema is incomplete, your AI-SHOP score drops significantly.
Most stores score under 50. The stores appearing in AI recommendations consistently score 75+.

See Where You Stand

The scan tells you what's broken. For stores with 50+ products, manual fixes become impractical - you need centralized schema management that applies correct markup across your entire catalog automatically.
handles this with one-click schema activation and a troubleshooter that detects and resolves conflicts. But start with the free scan to see exactly where the gaps are.
