When scientists are considering the ecology of an organism, they will measure both the abundance distribution of organisms.
The abundancy of an organism refers to the relative representation of a species in a particular area. It’s the number of organisms relative to the number of other organisms found in the environment.
To measure the abundancy and distribution of organisms scientists use a quadrat. It’s used to sample an area where plants and animals don’t move much, it’s in square form and uses a percentage cover.
