Being known
Talking to one another in deeply authentic ways
The intergenerational piece feels really significant to meーwhether it is a part of the process itself (youth interviewing elders and vice versa), or if it is about the elders yearning for their stories to endure
Letting people choose how (and if) they want to move into deeper belonging
Choosing how to connect
One thing I like about this idea is that it presents a lot of choices at a particular moment in time ー a specific opportunity for people to sit back and evaluate the ways that they are currently engaging and to think about engaging in other ways.
Making it easy for people to engage in a spiritual practice
Engaging in spiritual practice
Community and encouragement to grow spiritually
Bonding over food
Belonging, taking time with each other
I’m not totally clear on the idea, but I have thought for a long time that having more frequent opportunities to eat together would be good. Our Nashville church had weekly dinners (catered, $7 donation encouraged) with about 50 people in attendance. We went to that more religiously than we did to the Sunday services (small kids, didn’t have to cook!).
Being known
Being listened to without judgement or fear of wider exposure
I love that this idea keeps percolating up. I wonder with this example whether/how pieces of people’s stories might be shared out beyond the pair
Power of reflecting upon our own life experiences as a spiritual practice and the power of witnessing other stories for collective courage
Individual story recordings that can be used on-demand for inspiration and deepening for others
Relational connection that invites people into personal discernment small group experience
Personally crafted follow up / Small group connections Opportunity for growth with others with similar interests
Spiritual disciplines are fostered in community
Opportunity for growth with others - accountability, encouragement, mentoring
Ongoing personal and community education and dialogue about social justice concerns: both historical context and current events
Persona growth and community outreach. Social action is mentioned as an intention. This component needs further development.
Creation of a database of members’ gifts and a coordinator to keep this information up to date.
Coordinator would help members connect with programs/events/ministries/roles that would match their interests and utilize their gifts and talents.
Giving families an opp to participate as a whole family in the small group bonding experience
Coming together as a family for a physical / spiritual activity
MUSIC ALL AROUND Bringing people together around right brain activities to share in
Sharing an interest/talent in music for mutual benefit and the benefit of the community.
Bringing the arts into the activities of the church (music, art, dance, etc)
