What is patient engagement, and why does it matter?

Patient engagement is creating a bond between the healthcare providers and the patients. The better the engagement is, the better chance a patient can manage his disease. is important as it helps an individual go for regular checkups and necessary tests to seek better prevention and cure in the long run. It is the intention a patient has to partner with the healthcare provider to manage his condition better.

Due to the digitization of the healthcare process, patients seem to be actively engaged in collecting information about their bodies. They can also make wiser decisions on their treatment and medications options, along with symptoms and illness. Nowadays, patient engagement is not limited to a single individual, and it forms the basis of a partnership between patient families and representatives with the entire healthcare team. This also includes organizational governance and policymaking by the healthcare facility.
