Weather: Clear Skies. Wind out of the N at 12 kts, Temp approx 70F, Weather not a major factor during Lab Airspace/ LAANC: inside KLAF’s Class D Airspace Team Members: Ryan Pirro, Mason Cramer Drone number: DJI Mavic 2 Pro E Description of the Test Procedure:
We began the testing procedures by arranging our photo target buckets 10 feet apart in a straight line for the drone to operate around. Once targets were in position, the next step was preflighting and setting up the drone, establishing a connection and briefing the lab protocol before performing any operations to ensure safety. Once the team was all clear on the directions, we began our first of four tests. The test began with taking pictures of the targets, attempting to get a clear image of different targets with different yaw, climb and pitch commands . Once the first set of maneuvers was completed, we performed a similar test, but this next one included roll and orbit to capture the same photos. This different skill required different control inputs to complete. Lastly, After the first position test followed by a traverse test, we performed the same traverse test but went the opposite direction to capture the target photos shown below. Once each test wasd complete, the drone was to hover above the launch/landing pad and com back to repeat the process for each team member. This lab test helped us learn precise and accurate drone aerial photography using different capabilities of the drone to reach the goal. Photos of the Setup and flights:
