I am a freelance writer and content developer specializing in fashion, food, and lifestyle. My PR background also means that I can write impactful media releases.
I’ve been blogging since 2012 under the moniker
Styleforage

and have recently started a joint influencer project called
Roz & Erin In The Valley
⁠
where I create, write, and produce social content and videos about fashion, recipes, and the best places to visit in Hamilton and the GTA.
Most recently I have enjoyed working as the producer and researcher on a monthly parenting and youth development podcast called
Shaping Our World

for Muskoka Woods.
My previous experience is largely in the art world, having been an art student (I completed my Masters degree in Art History with a Diploma in Curatorial studies), and I have been involved in many aspects of the art world from serving on the board of directors for an artist-run non-profit for almost ten years, to writing catalogue essays, conducting exhibition research, and curation.

My most recent work in podcasting research and production leverages all my past experience to help craft interview questions and guest bios that have helped elevate the Muskoka Woods: Shaping Our World podcast hosted by Chris Thompson, CEO of Muskoka Woods. I then write the blog posts to accompany each episode.

I create, write, and produce social content and videos about fashion, recipes, and the best places to visit in Hamilton and beyond.

Content Creator - StyleForage, 2012-2018

I wrote a blog that chronicled my personal style with some beauty and decor mixed in. As a means of disseminating my work, I established a social media presence across several platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Running the Wordpress site allowed me to hone my technical skills resulting in my understanding of HTML and Photoshop fundamentals. I also used Google Analytics to monitor site traffic and applied SEO principles with the aim of increasing visitors to my blog.

Teaching Assistant, VISA 3P90 Readings in Contemporary Art , Brock University, 2007

Attended weekly lectures for the course, led weekly one hour tutorials for a section of twenty-seven students and marked their seminar presentations

Conducted research for David Moos, curator of contemporary art, for the exhibitions, The Shape of Colour: Excursions in Colour Field Art (2005), and Andy Warhol Super Nova: Stars, Death and Disasters (2005)

Contributor, Covering Niagara: Studies in Local and Popular Culture, Wilfrid Laurier University Press (2010)

I wrote a chapter about the resurgence of Niagara Artists’ Centre, which is one of the oldest artist-run centres in Canada, and its community-based reinvigoration in the early 2000s.

I write effective media releases about food and lifestyle products for national media relations campaigns.

Public Relations Consultant 2008 to present

As part of a small boutique PR firm I gained experience in all facets of public relations, from the strategic development of campaigns to writing media releases and executing special events for a roster of fashion, food, and lifestyle brands.
I managed accounts and performed media relations resulting in product placement and editorial opportunities for clients in the largest national media outlets. Other responsibilities included training and managing new staff and interns, and copy-editing all campaign materials produced in-house.

I love fashion and spend a disproportionate amount of time putting together outfits, which I have been able to translate into my career.

Sharp: The Book for Men

Style Contributor, 2010 to 2011

My role at the bi-annual luxury lifestyle guide, was to write narratives to accompany the fashion editorials in the Style Essentials section.

Audi Magazine

Associate Style Editor 2009 to 2010

At this publication my role focused on styling the fashion editorials, organizing photo shoots, and writing cutlines for the fashion pages.

Sharp Magazine

Associate Style Editor 2008 to 2010

I worked alongside the Style Editor and Editor-in-Chief to determine style content and conceptualize the fashion editorial for each issue. I also wrote fashion-related copy in the form of celebrity style profiles, instructional articles, interviews, and narratives to accompany the fashion spreads.
My major responsibility was styling the fashion editorials, which included liaising with designers, PR reps, and retailers to select clothing and build looks based on seasonal trends, in addition to styling the models on-set. I also planned all aspects of photo shoots from scouting locations, communicating with photographers, selecting models, and participating in the selection of final proofs. Finally, I wrote the cutlines for the fashion content in the magazine.
