Forma Part 2

Scenario

Project: mixed-use community block with school and hall

You’re commissioned to design a compact, four-storey mixed-use block that houses a public community hall and a school. The client seeks a modest civic presence, robust safety provisions, and adaptable programming for weekend community events. The total built-up area is capped at 3000 sqm, distributed across three floors, with efficient vertical circulation and minimal operational overlap between the two uses.
Project brief and intent
Primary objective: Integrate a public community hall (ground-level civic access) with a multi-level school, optimising shared infrastructure while maintaining clear functional separation.
Design ethos: Encourage daylighting, passive ventilation, and durable finishes; prioritise child-safe circulation, visibility, and acoustic zoning.
Spatial strategy: Locate the community hall at ground for public access and evening use; place the kindergarten above for controlled entry, secure play, and supervision.
