Guideline Note:
This document serves as a guideline for the industrial training scope. Students do not have to perform each task listed or limited to the task listed, as the actual scope will depend on the company's arrangement and specific requirements that they think suit both the student and the company need/skill/nature of business.
Objective:
To provide students with hands-on experience and practical knowledge of the architectural and landscape architectural profession, by engaging them in various technical and design activities in a professional setting.
Scope of Work:
1. Design Development:
Assist in Conceptual Design: Participate in brainstorming sessions and develop initial design concepts. Draft Preliminary Designs: Use design software to create preliminary sketches and models. Client Presentation Preparation: Prepare visual aids, such as slides and models, for client meetings. 2. Project Documentation:
Documentation Management: Assist in organizing and managing project documents, including design changes and approvals. Report Writing: Prepare reports and documentation for project meetings and reviews. Assist in Specification Writing: Help in the preparation of detailed specifications for materials and construction methods. 3. Technical Drawings:
Create Detailed Drawings: Develop detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and sections. Assist in 3D Modeling: Use 3D modeling software to create digital models of projects. Prepare Working Drawings: Create technical drawings required for construction, including detailed plans and sections. 4. BIM Implementation:
Utilize BIM Software: Assist in the creation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of projects using BIM software. Coordinate BIM Models: Help in coordinating and integrating BIM models from various disciplines (architecture, structure, MEP). BIM Documentation: Generate and update project documentation using BIM. 5. Site Visits:
Conduct Site Inspections: Visit construction sites to observe progress and ensure compliance with design specifications. Report Site Observations: Document site visits with photographs and written reports. 6. Client, Contractor, and Consultant Communication:
Prepare Meeting Minutes: Document client, contractor, and consultant meetings. Coordinate with Contractors and Consultants: Assist in coordinating with contractors and consultants to ensure that the project is executed as per the design. 7. Research and Development:
Material Research: Research new materials, technologies, and construction methods. Sustainability Practices: Assist in integrating sustainable design practices into projects. 8. Professional Development:
Attend Workshops and Seminars: Participate in professional development opportunities offered by the firm. Networking: Engage with professionals in the field to build a professional network. 9. Administrative Tasks:
Support Office Administration: Help with general office tasks such as filing, scheduling, and correspondence. Time Management: Learn and apply effective time management and project scheduling techniques.
