Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:
CLO1: Produce a report on how an architect's or landscape architect’s or construction industry related office is organized and operates
CLO2: Produce a log book recording their experience in performing or completing given tasks
CLO3: Perform as a staff and a team member in dealing with others in the industry
Industrial Training Philosophy:
Industrial training is offered to Architecture students as a partial requirement for the award of the degree.
Students are allowed to do the industrial training as long as the students have fulfilled the requirements needed by the programme.
Students are also subjected to the University’s rules and regulations inclusive of insurance coverage during the industrial training period.
Objectives:
To expose students to the actual working environment.
To give students opportunities to apply the theoretical knowledge to the actual tasks in the challenging environment.
To provide opportunities to organizations and government sectors to transfer the relevant knowledge, skills and experience to the students.
To equip students to become part of the skillful professional workforce in the future.
To develop intellectual growth and emotional maturity of the students.
To create and enhance a close relationship between the university and the respective organizations for the benefits of both parties.
Assessment:
Trainee will be assessed based on these criteria:
Training in the architect/ landscape architect/ developer/ construction industry related company
Duration: 12 – 14 weeks
Supervised by Field Supervisor appointed by the company
Daily logging of work done throughout the duration
Weekly assessment by Field Supervisor
Academic Supervisor’s Visit (subjected to SOP)
Checking of Report progress
Discussion with Field Supervisor on student’s progress and commitment & recommendation for improvement
Preparation of Industry Training Report
Reflection
