8. Annotation. Area Defects

Creating Area Defect

Area Defects are created similarly to Linear Defects, with a few differences.

Select the Create Area Defect tool
Outline the defect by clicking to place points
Before placing the last point, hold Shift — this will close the shape
The area will be calculated automatically — no manual measurement needed

All other steps — Assign to element, Choose defect type, Select preferred images — are the same as for Linear Defects:

Additional Tools for Area Defects

+ Area

Adds an area to an existing defect.
Click on the defect and choose Select Defect ​

Draw a polygon around the area you want to add. Make sure it overlaps part of the existing defect ​

The defect area will be updated and recalculated.

– Area

Removes part of the defect’s area.
Click on the defect and choose Select Defect. Draw a polygon around the area you want to remove.

Erase

Experimental Feature. Click on a defect to delete its geometry. The defect itself will stay in the list.

Area Lasso

Experimental Feature. Works like Defect Lasso, but selects area defects instead of linear ones.
