Sometimes I walk along the beach in Spain and ask myself: How did I end up here?
I studied to become a vocational school teacher and was well on my way to becoming one — if everything hadn’t turned out so differently.
During my studies, I started working at a medical technology startup. The job interview went something like this: “You’re creative, right? How about marketing?”
Marketing? Okay, why not. I had only taken two lectures on the subject, but why not.
Medical technology? I didn’t know much about it — but you can learn, right?
While still a student, I was already supervising my first intern. That was my first leap into the deep end — and there were many more to come.
The second big leap came right after graduation:
Hardly had I received my degree when I became Head of Marketing. In that role, I supported the company’s growth from 20 to 60 employees, built and led a team, and developed a unique brand identity and a successful marketing strategy — of course, not alone, but with the amazing support of many.
