About the TCDA SPI Program
The Single Pitch Instructor program is designed to train and certify climbing instructors who teach in single-pitch settings. This program rigorously emphasizes the technical skills, instructional abilities, risk management, and professional conduct essential for safe and effective climbing instruction.

To be eligible as a TCDA SPI course provider, your organization must meet the following criteria:
1. Organizational Requirements
Be a legally established entity in Thailand. Have been in operation for a minimum of 2 years. Demonstrate financial stability. Maintain appropriate business licenses and permits. Carry liability insurance 2. Operational Experience
Possess at least 2 years of experience providing climbing instruction. Have a documented history of safe operations (e.g., risk management plans, protocols, incident records). Demonstrate experience managing climbing programs or courses. Maintain a positive reputation within the climbing community. 3. Access to Appropriate Facilities
Have access to suitable single-pitch climbing areas for course delivery. Provide a classroom or teaching space for theoretical components. Ensure adequate equipment for course participants. Possess appropriate emergency response capabilities. Application Process: Your Path to Becoming a Provider
The application process is designed to ensure all authorized providers meet TCDA's high standards.
Step 1. Self-check and Manual Review
Review the preliminary eligibility checklist and the assessment information in the course provider manual (see the top of this page) Step 2. Submit Application
Your formal application must include:
Completed provider application form. Documentation demonstrating fulfillment of eligibility requirements. Proposed lead instructor credentials and qualifications. Description of facilities and resources. Proposed implementation plan. Application fee of 65,000 THB. Step 3. Application Review
The TCDA will review applications based on:
Completeness and accuracy of application materials. Fulfillment of eligibility requirements. Qualifications of proposed instructors. Suitability of facilities and resources. Overall capacity to deliver quality instruction. Step 4. Site Evaluation
Organizations that pass the initial review will undergo:
On-site inspection of facilities. In-person interviews with key personnel. Demonstration of teaching capabilities. Assessment of safety protocols and risk management systems. Step 5. Authorization
Organizations can receive the final evaluation under 4 scenarios
Full Authorization - Meets or exceeds all requirements Provisional Authorization - Minor concerns that can be addressed during the provisional period. A provisional monitoring will be conducted during the first SPI course, and the authorization decision will be re-evaluated. Conditional Authorization - Significant concerns that must be addressed before beginning courses. After they have been addressed, the authorization decision will be re-evaluated. Authorization Declined - There are critical concerns that prevent authorization from being granted. The organizations would have to reapply next time. Organizations that receive “Full Authorization” or “Provisional Authorization” will:
Receive TCDA-SPI Course Provider authorization for 2 years Be required to host at least one TCDA observer during their first course
