Lead Account Manager

We’re looking for a Lead Account Manager with a passion for customer discovery and systems-building to join our funded high-growth tech startup (12 member core team; 80 member operations team).
You get to work closely with our Product & Operations teams (including the former Head of Operations at Amazon IMDb) and advisors to build our account management function from the ground up, report directly to our Founder & CEO, train & manage a team of Account Managers, and develop strategies to support startups & SMBs while expanding their usage of Pareto.
We’re not just looking for someone to execute. We’re looking for a thought partner. This role will not only have a seat at the table; you’ll be in the kitchen with us designing the menu.
We have multiple types of customers we interact with — from entrepreneurs, recruiters, to marketing and sales professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a mission-driven AM culture, impact/influence product development, and build an AM team to scale your vision. This role is a great fit for candidates with 3+ years of experience in account management or customer success and 1+ years of team management experience, who are looking to seize a new challenge at a high-growth tech startup. Connect with customers on a daily basis, listen to customer needs, and identify gaps in our AM systems
Build AM handbook to institute AM systems at Pareto, including vision, tenets, and processes
Motivate team members and encourage creativity while understanding training needs.
Provide coaching in areas including but not limited to: objection handling, solution presentation, connecting with leads & customers, and customer discovery
Foster an inspiring, collaborative, & customer-obsessed culture with open communication & feedback
Set clear individual and team goals focused on revenue growth
Report on performance and metrics at an executive level
Build mechanisms to surface customer insights and guide product strategy
Develop better AM practices by integrating customer & team insights
Unlock expansion & retention revenue with cross-selling and up-selling initiatives

What you’ll need
Proven commercial edge, entrepreneurial track record and strong sales/negotiation skills
Excited to lead and manage time-sensitive, cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial and collaborative environment
An excellent communicator and team player with strong leadership/management skills and technical aptitude
1+ years experience managing teams and owning SMB/Startup accounts
3+ years experience in account management, business development, consulting, or a related field
Full professional proficiency in English
Analytical mindset & proficiency owning tools like HubSpot
Familiarity with B2B SaaS and productivity tools
Creativity and the initiative to execute quickly and efficiently.
A willingness to embrace and provide feedback with respect and kindness.
Comfort setting your own goals in a fast-paced work environment
Flexibility and willingness to adapt as the business evolves
Familiarity with cultural differences and eagerness to work with people from very different backgrounds
