Hey all,
I’ve got a bunch of mid-end and low-end educational videos coming up over the next 5 months or so - I’m going to need to bring some freelancers in on this to take on shots and possibly some preliminary design and style frames work (maybe even illustration but not much). The work involves this sort thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xrpD6uFOCQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uorrlWJ23Mg&t=2s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9MPklfyRHI&t=6s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUi-lKcpn7k
Camera mapping could be handy, likewise Element 3D, C4D, basic compositing and possibly some character animation and. AE is a must of course.
The jobs would be billed hourly so I'll be looking for hourly rates.
It’s early days yet but if you’re interested, drop me a line on ole@innit.productions. Note, I'd be keen to build relationships here as these videos are ongoing with about 5 - 10 per year.
Cheers
Ole
Thanks for getting in touch.
My partner and I will be going through all the applicants in the coming week and will let you know the outcome.
Ciao,
Ole
Please feel free to check in every now and then and update me with new projects you’ve worked on.
Thanks for getting in touch.
I'd like to consider you for these upcoming projects and will go through all the applicants with my partner in the US during this week. However, as we pay on an hourly basis we really need to know what your hourly rate is as that will be crucial in deciding who makes it onto the short list. If you have different rates for different tasks/software please let me know.

Shortlist announcement
Hi ###
We've reviewed all the applications and would like to add you to our shortlist. Here's what that means:
As stated in the original post, we anticipate completing numerous videos this year. However, final scripts are still pending, making it impossible to determine the required skill sets and appropriate rates for each video. While we believe your work would align well with some of these projects, I’m afraid it’s going to take a while longer before making a final decision.
For these assignments, we typically handle some shots in-house and assign the remaining shots to our freelance virtuosos. Our aim is to match each freelancer with suitable shots. Though it may sound minimal ("only a couple of shots?"), please understand that many of these videos run up to 10 minutes, and we like to limit the number of animators per video as this approach allows the animators to develop a cohesive feel for each project, ultimately enhancing the final product. This is why we requested hourly rates.
So, I’d like to say “thank you” for reaching out and for your patience. I will be in touch as soon as I have sufficient information.
Best regards,
Ole

Hi Travis,
Thanks for the updates. So after chatting with the US we've decided we'd definitely like to bring you on board for some of these videos.
Unfortunately final scripts are still pending, making it impossible to determine the appropriate skillsets required for each video so I’m afraid it’s going to take a while longer before we can let you know where/when we can best apply your skills. Right now I feel that all the different styles I saw on your site would come in handy and beyond that, I think it’d be great to tackle one of these projects with you at an earlier stage such as style frames or even concept. The way it would work overall is that once we have the details/requirements in front of us we decide who’s skillsets to apply where ie on a shot basis. This works because most of the videos are quite long and end up being edited together. So for example,

Hi
After going through everything with my partner we’ve decided that we’d definitely like to work with you at some point - I feel that all the different styles I saw in your reel would come in handy. Unfortunately final scripts are still pending, making it impossible to determine the appropriate skillsets required for each video so I’m afraid it’s going to take a while longer before we can let you know where/when we can best apply your skills.
Thanks again and looking forward to getting in touch with you in the near future. Ciao,

p.s. please feel free to check in occasionally and also to update me with any interesting projects you may have recently completed.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the updates. So after chatting with the US we've decided we'd definitely like to bring you on board for some of these videos.

To give you a little bit of an overview of the sort of projects coming up, here’s what we’re facing this year:
Marginal Revolution University based in Boston and CA - economics educational videos. Have a look at their YouTube Channel here:
Most of the very basic low-end videos are done in-house at their end but the more elaborate ones are the ones we cover. What’s coming up this year:
3 - 4 x educational videos dealing with AI and how it’s going to affect us. I’m currently working on the first one (the only one I’ve got a script for at the moment) to get the ball rolling and figure out how we can set the tone for the following videos in this series but it’s early days yet.
4 x educational videos. As yet I don’t know what these are about but it will likely consist of a mixture of talking heads and animated content (probably something like these videos:
As you’ll see from these videos, we try to keep things fresh, trying different approachs to telling the story - a lot of fun.
With MRU there’s always talk of them wanting to do more inhouse but the people they employ are really quite junior so we try to make the videos a little more high-end in order to make it harder to reproduce and match the same level in-house.
Macmillan USA - educational videos
9 x educational videos (potentially) for Macmillan US, but these are very basic and we’d bring a junior on board for this. The first one is in the works and based on this we’ll find out whether or not they’ll hand over the other 9.
Bill - director based in Miami. Bill is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever worked with. We spent the past 1 1/2 years collaborating on the documentary which is premiered at the Tribeca film festival over the weekend.
1 x Kid’s TV series pilot that requires a bunch of VFX shots. I’m hoping to get the edited shots through in the next month - for the most part it’s tracking screens onto ipads, iphone and computer screens.
1 x documentary about Pitbull’s grandma from Cuba and how she escaped the revolution there (Bill’s parents are from Cuba). This one’s uncertain but Pitpull’s a good mate of his so he’s trying very hard to get it off the ground.
Daniel - director based in Boston
1 x A short doc style video essay about a famous architect discussing aspects of W4th Street (NY) to explain how streets are the essence of cities. This one promises to be quite fun and we should have the first filmed material towards the end of June.
Rutgers University - NJ
There MAY be another video for them coming up later in the year but it’s uncertain. Here’s stuff we’ve done in the past:
So, as you can see, a veritable smorgasboard of projects. It’s not always high-end stuff, the focus being on telling the story rather than flash visuals. A large driver is also the budgets which aren’t always very big so it’s left up to us to figure out how to best tell the story within the budget whilst honouring everyone’s hourly rates.
You’ll have noticed that they’re ALL in the US which is good because they have a great work ethic, but it can also be a little tyring because of the time zones (West coast and East coast) - I often have to get up at 5 in order to be able to interface with the guys in CA.
So, this should give you a good overview of where things are at and where it’s going. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s very important to me to build long-term relationships as it’s quite tyring to conintually take chances on new freelancers. Also, with more and more clients coming on board it’d be great to have people on-board who can jump in at a moment’s notice and just get the Innit style and work ethic.
Again, apologies that it’s all taking longer but I will definitely keep you in the loop. Any questions you have, please let me know.
Ciao

Final announcements for Good and OK
Hi #
Thanks again for getting in touch.
My partner and I have gone through everything and have decided that at this point we’re not going to consider you for the upcoming videos. This is not due to a lack of skill on your part but rather that some of the other applicants were just better suited. Having said that, there are likely to be a bunch more videos coming along later in the year for which we will need more hands on deck - at that point I’d like to reach out again to see if you’re still interested. Also, please feel free to keep me updated with new and interesting projects that you’ve completed.
Thanks again and ciao for now,
Ole
