Pin Connectors (Dupont, Mini-PV, Berg)

Dupont connectors are used in electronics for making jumper wire connections. They are commonly used in breadboards and other prototyping tools. For example, a hobbyist building a DIY robot might use Dupont connectors to connect various sensors to a microcontroller.
People often call PCB pin strips, un-shrouded female PCB headers, and un-shrouded female plugs "Duponts". However these incredibly common 0.1" pitch, 0.025" square pin headers have gone through many different names such as “AMPMODU”, “Mini-PV”, and “Berg”.

History:
These connectors were first made by , founded in 1946. Berg was eventually bought by DuPont (the same company that makes chemicals) In 1993, DuPont sold to . DuPont now only makes the . In 1998, HM Capital Partners sold Berg to Framatome Connectors International (FCI), and in 2016, FCI sold to Amphenol. Amphenol calls these connectors "Mini-PV Basics" Today, lots of other companies make the same connectors, and "DuPont" is now , just like Kleenex. For example, AMP rolled out its AMPMODU series based on this standard, before it was sold to Tyco.
